Cosmetic Bootcamp™ BOOTS NON-SPECIALISTS

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA (March 3, 2005) -Cosmetic Bootcamp™co-directors Dr. Kenneth Beer and Dr. Mary Lupo announce today their decision to restrict non-specialists and non-physicians from registering for this premier cosmetic dermatology program scheduled for Jackson Hole, WY, Aug. 11-13. It is possibly the only training program of its kind enforcing such restrictions. Bucking the trend of accepting funding from a variety of unqualified medical doctors, osteopaths, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, the Cosmetic Bootcamp™ medical directors will, instead, focus on training dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ear nose and throat doctors, and ophthalmologists. 

TheCosmetic Bootcamp™is designed for dermatologists and dermatology residents interested in establishing or growing a cosmetic practice. It is a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program coordinated by CME program leader Ciné-Med Research Institute in Woodbury, CT.

This announcement was made, according to Beer, “because the seminar is receiving a large number of applications from people who we believe lack the requisite skills to become expert providers for cosmetic procedures.” Furthermore, Beer, who practices medicine in West Palm Beach, Fla., adds, “Recent events in South Florida have highlighted the dangers of having cosmetic procedures performed by providers who do not have the required knowledge or skills. TheCosmetic Bootcamp™believes that providing the right education to the properly trained physicians is in the best interest of patient safety and satisfaction.” The recent use of an unapproved botulism toxin is thought to have left four people paralyzed after they were injected at a South Florida clinic.
